For me, even when I was growing up, I could never grasp the whole concept. Supposedly everything is supposed to start a new, but I still have the same everything as before. It almost sounds like another excuse to run away from your problems or past. I personally like to face them and learn. I see myself as the Federation and BORG put together from Star Trek, in a metaphorical type of aspect. I'm always on a journey to better improve my self, but for the greater good, on a common ground that everyone can benefit from. But it's still hard to achieve these goals whole heartily, when there is so many obstacles trying to stop you along the way. But that's why I will always face adversity head on... For my Family... For my Late son Logan and for my God, in a way I may prove myself, so I can serve him for all eternity. If celebrating the coming of the new year, meant celebrating my triumphs, in overcoming all the trying times. Then maybe I should be throwing a HUGE party, complete with dancers and security at the door. Because the past "YEARS" have been very tough and I am still here giving it all I got. Though it may seem as if my efforts are in vane, I look past all that. My strength, determination and will-power, have definitely shown everyone I come in contact with, that I am a force to be reckoned with, especially when goals need to be meet. I am very fortunate that I get to share the rest of my life with a woman that has surpassed my expectations in every way possible, and to have to be blessed with children that have taught me what true "Unconditional Love" really means. For this, I have a true reason to celebrate. I wish everyone a Happy New Years and I hope 2010 will truly be the year, everyone gets there just deserves. Thanks to everyone that has touched my life in a special way. I will never forget all of you. So lets all look forward for what is in store for us and may it be a good one! HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYBODY or MANIGONG BAGONG TAON!!!!

Droid

So this is my first entry from Droid phone! Jesus I love this phone! It's like a mini computer in my hands! So far it can a vast amount stuff, except when some of the pages require Adobe Flash. But good news, Adobe announces a Droid plug-in some time in 2010. So I am really anticipating the release. That plug-in will open up a whole new world for all Droid users. Also I recently uploaded a Youtube vid about the whole experience.

Videography

I really enjoy doing videos now. Where I feel like I have done all that is there to be done, but then again I still have done nothing at all... In other words, feeling that you have done it already, but in actuality didn't... Is this part of a mid-life Crisis? Am I realizing again, that there is not that much time left and I need to hurry up and get the things that I wanted to do in life, completed? Like Start and finish College, travel the world and finally see Europe, get inspired again, be spontaneously wild again or just be myself again for once... Just to name a few. I turned to "working out" the past couple of months, because I can see and feel the results. It's the only thing I feel I can't be a total failure at. I always have thoughts of wonder or what if, floating around my head... Especially about my late Son Logan. I catch myself wondering why I can't ever see the beauty in anything simple anymore, it's like my artistic side is totally gone. I used to be so creative and so mentally/emotionally in-tuned with myself. Now it's like I am just some big drone running on auto pilot, watching the seconds tic away. Wondering if I will ever come out of my functional coma... I have lost the touch of making friends easily, starting conversations and keep them going... I think about how old I am alot, especially when I look back at the past and remember all the crazy things I did. Boy was I young. Is this how the rest of my life will turn out? Will it be an everyday thing of dreading on going to work and wondering if today will be the day I lose it? Will my sex life ever be the same, like it used to be when I was single? Why does it always seem to be a similar story for every guy that goes through a Midlife Crisis? Even the successful ones too? Is there no end to the monotony of feeling like I have not done enough? When will the day come when I can say, I am successful... It's like an internal battle with myself and deciding what or who I am. My creative mind is cold and empty... An empty mind is like committing suicide... Mine is a ice ridden wasteland, eternally tortured with lonely emptiness... Thoughts...

EVONY

I am obsessed with the online game EVONY!!! <---- Click here=== I have started playing it like 3 or 4 days ago and I have been consistent about checking it almost everyday. When on Twitter, I can just write something really simple and small to keep everything up to date!

BG-E6 Battery Grip

I purchased a BG-E6 Battery Grip from B&H a couple days ago and it just arrived today by UPS! It adds a little weight to my camera, but I am not at all worried about it, because I "work-out" on a regular basis. I wanted to get the Grip made by Canon, because it too is also made out of Magnesium Alloy. Plus I am not a big fan of buying 3rd party stuff for my Camera. That's why I never made the jump to buying 3rd party Lenses either. I keep my gear all certified Canon products. It looks better that way!

Sinland Biker's San Diego Chapter

Well it has been awhile since I added anything new to my blog, but I took these photos to test out my new Alien Bee 1600 with my 2 580EX II's. She is absolutely a pro and a pleasure to work with. But it is not all good, because most of the photos were not in focus. I am really disappointed about it and I have asked her to do a different type of shoot on the Beach or a Park... With a Abercrombie type of feel to it. I hope she accepts the offer, but I seriously doubt that she will accept.

***UP DATE*** Hey guess what guess guys, she told me the photos look great and she would gladly do another photo-shoot! She said that it was the most fun she's ever had on a photo-shoot!!! This really makes me happy! Now I wanna get out there and keep booking and keep shooting models!!!

Mother's Day

Well I really hate celebrating holiday's because I always end up spending alot of money I really don't want to spend it on... But I figured I would spend alot this mother's day, because my wife really wanted a CRICUT printer for her scrap booking. So after work yesterday, I went to Walmart and purchased it for almost $300, waaaaay less advertised on the CRICUT website.
Then later on that night, I ended up giving her gift early, because i could not wait! I was just so excited to get her something she really wanted, it's like me wanting a EF 70-200mm L f/2.8 IS USM and I knew someone got me that I would want that person to give me that lens early!!! LOL!!!!! HELL, like as soon as she walks in the camera store or presses the buy now button!! So after she got her printer, I asked her what she was going to get me for Father's day? Well immediately she responded " I'm not getting you a LENS!", that made my heart sink to the floor... LOL! So I figured why not get somthing of equal value? Right? So now I have a month to figure out what I want... Right now I am leaning towards an Alien Bee 800! To start my home Studio! I talked to my Brother Lenin, who is my inspiration to keep pushing through with photography. He told me, while you are in a dry spell, why not try Practicing my photography strengths, which happens to be STROBIST style photography. So I did! And I must say, I have learned alot from last nights experimenting. I have not posted any pics because I was in my PJ's and my hair was messed up... But later on I will definitely dress up and try those techniques again. I also was interested in getting into Studio lighting and was really interested in purchasing Alien Bee 800's... Maybe like 2 of them, so I can still have my 580EX II's.... I really like the portability on these strobes and the fact that they also support E-TTL. Well it might be awhile till I have a full studio, but it is somthing that is always in the back of my mind.

Photographers block...

Well here I am wondering what in the world is wrong with me!!! I have yet to take a picture for awhile now... I have been on a quest to try to book models for shoots, but I can't seem to think of a theme and concept... Two things needed to be thought of first before the model gets to the shoot... I don't want to sit there and start winging it do I? I would not think so anyways... Plus I want to be able to get that model to shoot with me again right? Unless the model happens to be a total Drama Queen and/or BITCH! I have yet to work with anyone like that yet, but I know some day I will come across the occasional one... But the way it's looking right now, I would gladly work with a drama queen... Just to get new pics on my portfolio... You know what I have noticed, every time I do a STROBIST shoot, the editing time is cut down dramatically... It's like everything I would add in PP is already done... I guess that is why I like it so much. CHEEZE! I hope this dry spell goes away soon... I really want to get back into that mind frame again, plus the feeling of shooting off my camera and looking at the final results after PP is by far one of the best feelings in the world.

Renaissance Fair

I attended this event because I recently joined a "MEET UP" group. But this is my thoughts on the whole ordeal... I liked the new experience and being able to shoot random people, who are obsessed with the renaissance era! What I did not like was that I only meet one person from this group and that is because I asked random photographers if they were from SD Photo Group... I have seen actual "MEET UP" groups before in public and they all had "MEET UP" stickers pasted on the front of their shirts, with their name written on it. Would have been nice to have been able to identify members. That way I could have introduced myself and build up a rapport with other members. Plus it would have been a great way to advertise about this photography group. I see it as showing pride for the group. But I guess this "MEET UP" group is more of a hidden society of photographers, kinda like "Fight Club"... First rule of "San Diego MEET UP Group" is, don't talk about "San Diego MEET UP Group"... But I will not let this experience be the impression, that I will let judge about this group.

Pacman vs Hatton

Last nights fight was great, but very quick... I was actually really surprised that Hatton did not fight better... I mean it was like he could not get one punch in and what was up with Rickey kept on clenching on to Manny? Also what about the come back with Floyed Mayweather coming out retirement? It's almost like the whole world of boxing is rigged... I guess like any big multi-billion doallr event, politics will be involved... And what is up with a new product called STROBIES. It was mentioned in STROBIST bog spot and I am actually very excited to read reviews on the Beauty Dish! I am also going to be at the Escondido Renaissance Faire today at 1030am or 11am, with my family!! It is a meetup group that I recently joined and this will be my first encounter! I will post pics of the whole event and give you guys a short review of the whole ordeal!

Photography Groups

I just want to touch on a point that trying to find a local photography group, is freaking hard... Especially when you have to work on the days those guys usually meet up, or go to places that you really don't want to shoot at, because I have already been there a couple of weeks ago... Oh ya and the fact that my daughter and wife are totally not into photography so I have to sacrifice time that could be dedicated to practicing techniques, to improve my skills... Oh another thing that bugs me, is why is everything sold for photography, has to cost more than more than amount of gas I spend, in a SUV, in a year...?! For example, PocketWizard Pluss II's are able to trigger your camera itself by buying a special cord. Well so I looked up the cord that pocket wizard sells, and it is 80+ dollars with shipping... HOLY SHIT DUDE! WTF! I was like, I will use the cheaper alternative of the wireless remotes made by Canon!! I told my brother Lenin about this and he said check this out (LINK)... It was a cheaper alternative, to PocketWizards 80+ dollar cord... It's made by SATECHI and Sold by them too, it cost 40+ dollars and works just as fine and it is longer than the Pocketwizard brand!!! While we are on the Subject of Pocket Wizards, they came out with Mini and the Flex models, stating they are able to take advantage of the ETTL system... I have yet to see good reviews and are already being sold off by dis-satisfied customers... It's because of the RF noise being emitted and that noise some how messes with the Flex/Mini's signal... But there is already a small solution to the problem, it's an small piece of fabric you wrap around your flash, it is supposed to increase the range and also make it more reliable... Either way, I don't think I will be switching to those any time soon. If you want to read further into the solution here is the link (Click here)... Oh and if anyone wants to see PocketWizards solution, (Click here)

My experience so far...

Well let me start out by introducing myself. My name is Leonardo Fernando Glass-Macapagal. I was born Angeles City, Pampanga Province Philippines, but the first 10+ years were spent traveling around the world, because my father was in the Air force. Ultimately after he retired from the Air force, we settled in a predominantly "White" town called Del City, Oklahoma. There I spent most of my impressionable growing years, learning that I was not like everyone else. I feel like I had a unique child/adolescent hood experience, but definitely a struggle to fit in... I feel it has given me a tad bit of a complex of wanting to be liked and envied, but I am getting better at accepting "I am who I am and you can't make a horse drink water if the horse is not thirsty..." So after a complicated young life, I decided to join the NAVY and play that role for 6 years and 10 months... I quit the Navy because I had my first born son Logan Orian Glass-Macapagal on 13 October 2007, but later was a victim of SIDS on 6 Dec 2007. By far one the most hardest situations I have ever dealt with, but I will remember him always and he will be in my heart forever. Then I was hired on 7 Jan 2008 at the job I currently work till this day, as a Emergency Room Administrative Technician. It's ok I guess, I can't argue because I get paid more at this job, than what I was getting paid in the Military. I also recently have dove into Photography and loving every second of it. Which is the reason why I started this Blog, because all the great photographers like David Hobby and David Tejada, have their own!! So maybe one day I will be as good as them.
